SS Rajamouli’s film RRR has entered the race for nominations in various categories at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Visual Effects, among others. The official nominations will be unveiled in January 2023, but according to predictions by the American publication Variety, RRR stands a good chance of securing a nomination for Best Visual Effects, with V Srinivas Mohan being credited as the visual effects artist.
Variety’s predictions also list other contenders vying for a spot in the Best Visual Effects category, including The Batman, Top Gun Maverick, Black Panther Wakanda Forever, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Avatar: The Way of Water, among others.
Recently, the Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer RRR received applause and enthusiastic reactions from the audience at the Beyond Fest in Los Angeles, where it was hailed as “the best film of the past decade.” SS Rajamouli, the director, also attended the Governors Awards in LA.
RRR has previously secured the Best International Film award at the 50th Saturn Awards, and Rajamouli expressed gratitude in his acceptance speech. The film has also made a successful release in Japan, garnering appreciation from the audience.
Starring Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn alongside Ram Charan and Jr NTR, RRR has crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide at the box office.
